#bbloggers Xmas Meet Up

So a couple of weeks ago, i attended the #bboggers Xmas meet, in London.
The event was held in The Reebok Bar in London's Canary Wharf. It was a weird, but nice place, and took AGES to find lol. the first 2 floors of the building were a Waitrose, with the top few floors being the sports club, so there was apparently a gym, pool, spa etc as well as the bar, where the event was held.
The bar looked out on to a temporary ice rink that was surrounded by pretty Christmassy trees, i tried to get some photos, but as it was getting dark outside they didn't come out so well.

I spent the majority of the event with Sara from Pretty In Pink, Which was lovely, it was so nice to get to finally meet some of the bbloggers, and put some faces to names etc. There was so much to see and do at the event, there were a few brands there to chat to, though sadly i didn't get a chance to have a proper chat with them, i did get some press releases to look through.
We were all given a beauty quiz to complete, which was good fun, some of the questions were crazy hard. Do you know what the 'm' in 'Barry M' stands for?!
Some lovely ladies from Aromatherapy Associates and *i think* soap box pr gave a little talk about the brands they represent and things. While we stuffed ourselves with cake pops, biscuits and pop chips, that were all laid out on the tables for us.

Aromatherapy Associates were giving everyone hand & arm massages, they were so relaxing and the lady doing them was so lovely. There were also people from the spa at the sports club spa doing nail paints, with colours from the OPI Germany Collection, i had mine painted with 'Suzi & The 7 Dussledorfs' a gorgeous purple colour, Sara Chose 'Deutsch you love me baby' a Stunning bright Orange-Red. Mines lasted amazingly well and just this week has started to chip. I completely forgot to take a picture of them, they're all chipped and horrible now.

At the end of the day, everyone there got a goodie bag. A goodie bag and a half, they were actually amazing.
There were actually 2 bags, a bag full of snacky foodie bits and another one crammed full of beauty products.

ProperCorn, I'd actually bought a bag of these the day before if a different flavour, i think Fiery Tomato & Worcester sauce or something, and they were delicious, so i have high hopes for Sour Cream & Chive flavour I love savoury pop corn and its a much healthier alternative to crisps.
I'd not heard of Little Miracles before, this was Organic Energy in Black Tea, Ginseng, Peach and Acai. I didn't notice much in the way of boosted energy, but it did taste quite nice. I've not seen them in any shop anywhere though, have you?
and lastly Pop Chips, i have tried these before because they actually featured in a She Said Beauty Box. They were also laid out on the tables at the event. They are yummmmyyy. Again I've not seen any in any shops near me.

So on to what you've all probably been waiting for the beauty goodies! I wont go in to detail on every product as this post is already quite long and there is literally a million products, as i use them, they'll get reviewed on here. So here goes...

Lush: Father Christmas

So, I'm writing this post from my new iPad. No idea how its going to turn out. So fingers crossed. Also, if anyone has an app recommendations post them below :)
I went a little mad with the lush Christmas range, pretty much bought one of everything. I'll try and work my way through them and get them all up before they sell out.
First up is the Father Christmas bath ballistic, I think this one I,particular would make a great present.

The outside is a lovely red and white Father Christmas face, with a hint of some red glitter. The ballistic is scented with mandarin oil and orange flower giving it a real Christmas satsuma smell.
The initial fizz of this is a nice light pink colour and more glitter bursts out.

As the outer layer fizzes away, this amazing vivid Christmas green colour comes pouring out. At this point as well the satsuma scent is quite strong, but still really nice!

The end result is a gorgeous bright green satsuma scented bath with some lovely red glitter in.
Unfortunately I ran my bath waaay to hot and it made me feel a bit ill. So I had to get out and couldn't enjoy my bath for as long as I'd have liked to.
I'll definitely be stocking up on this one before it leaves stores.

The only downside is the glitter does stick to the bath so you have to give it a bit if a rinse afterwards.
But other than that I really recommend this one and can't wait to try more of the Christmas range.

Have you tried anything from the Lush Christmas range?

Travelling Plans

You may or may not know, I cant remember if I've told you before. But, my mums sister (so my auntie) lives in America, with her American husband and my 2 cousins. I absolutely love love love love love going to visit them and have been 3 times since i was about 12. My eldest cousin has a little girl who is now 1!! and is pregnant with her second baba, I'm yet to meet the Adorable Kathryn, and the soon-ish (February) to be arriving Caroline, and I'm SO desperate to meet them both, and see all my family again, and to just generally be in America. I LOVE it over there.
my plan when i finished uni, was always to go over for a few months to stay with my family and just travel round a few states, and work a bit. I've always said it, but not actually done anything about it. But now I've decided, I'm never going to get there if i don't start saving even a teeny tiny bit.
At the moment, I'm trying to pay off the overdraft on my student account, but hopefully if all goes to plan that should be paid off by Christmas or late January. Then once that's paid off i can start seriously saving. Until then though, i thought every little helps so in TK Maxx the other day i spotted these beauties...

The box, is a cute little square box, the top looks like an old school air mail envelope, and around the sides has all different kinds of stamps and post marks.

I found it on clearance for about £2, I'm going to use it to save 20p's in. My mum saves every 20pence piece she gets and her piggy bank is always over flowing. So i thought until I've got my overdraft paid off this will be the way forward. 20p's in a box, so far i have about £3!! It may take a while to save up enough 20ps to travel America, but as i mentioned before every little helps.

The little note book or 'Travel Journal' is the coolest thing, and  if i had any friends about to go travelling i would have bought all 3 that they had on the shelf, i think this was about £4.99, which i think is about average for a notebook in TK Maxx (if you haven't checked out TK Maxx for notebooks YOU MUST, they have the most unusual and prettiest notebooks you've ever seen!)
I couldn't not buy this one, even though my travelling days are a long way off yet, I'm going to keep it safe until the day i leave.
This is why i love it so....

I love the vintage looking front cover and the elastic closure making sure everythings kept super secure.
This is the inside cover, on the left, there is a 'air mail envelope' with one of those old fashioned tie closures, handy for keeping ticket stubs, postcards, photos etc in of all the places you've visited on your travels. Cute right?

I didn't photograph it, but on the first page of the notebook section, there are a couple of printed luggage tags for you to write your name address etc on, so if you were to lose it hopefully somebody nice would return it to you.
The first section is a 'Things to do before i go' check list, This is AMAZING. I'm an avid list maker, and literally can't do anything or go anyway without making a list. I also think its handy, so that you don't forget anything important, if you're going away for a long time there are lots of things to remember, like cancelling phone bills or any subscriptions you have. The check boxes next to the lines are a great idea so you can tick things off as you do them.

A special packing list section! all the pages are made to look old/ vintage. There are quite a few pages in each section so you could probably use them for multiple trips. I imagine when i go to stay with my family, I'll be doing little mini excursions to other places and a packing list for each one would probably come in handy!

Then there are the actual diary pages, in the the top left corner it always has a space to write, where you are, the date and the weather. the pages differ through the book, some pages just have a nice illustration on whereas others have a little mock sellotaped note on them, the page i photographed says "where i am now looks like: " so you can write a description of where you are right at that moment. Some of the other 'notes' say things like, "As i write i can see..." or "Save something near you right now to keep as a memento. If it's too large or heavy, perhaps you can take a photo or buy a postcard" I think these are super cute!! they make each day slightly different. Some of the pages have really nice quotes on them, about travelling, one of my favourites is this one "Not all who wander are lost." J. R. R. Tolkien.
There are loads of diary pages as well, which is really good.
The next part is probably one of my favourites and i must of completely skipped this part when i was looking in the shop, as i didn't notice it till i got home.

This is the favourites section, there's areas for restaurants, bars, shops, cafes and hotels. On the little note cards, you can write the name of the place you went, what you ate/drank/bought, things to recommend to people and your general thoughts on the place you can always give it a star rating. A great page to use as reference when you get home and you're telling people about all the amazing places you ate/drank/slept.

And lastly is the 'Address book' pages, with spaces to write addresses, emails, telephone number. So you have no excuse not to send a postcard. Or handy if you make any new friends while travelling, so you can keep in contact with them.
The last couple of pages, just have weight/length convertions and list of currency if different countries etc.

So all in all a pretty handy little book, its really light and handbag sized so great for carrying around with you.
I think this would make a great present for anyone who might be going travelling soon, i love little sentimental things like this, that you can keep forever and look back on from time to time. Something to show your grandchildren as my Nienie would say.

What do you think?

Lots of Love

Olympia Beauty

Back in September i was lucky enough to attend Olympia Beauty, for a while I've been meaning to do a post and show you all my photos from the event,. So this will be a very picture heavy post. It was the first time I'd been to this event and I will DEFINITELY be going again! I had a great time and there was so much to see, i was introduced to loads of brands and new products. Everyone was so friendly it was just generally and great experience. As I'd travelled up from Cornwall for the event, i made the most of my time and went to both of the 2 days. Personally i think you NEED to 2 days just to see everything! I cant wait till next years, and am already looking into other events.

This was the Media Hub/ VIP Area, this was a great area where we could go and chill, grab a coffee and meet with some great brands. Filthy Gorgeous where in there pampering everyone with manicures.

The entrants for the Make Up and Nails Competition were AMAZING! I was so impressed with them all.
And this was one of my favourite finished make up looks, i just love the eyebrows!

There was so much to see at Olympia Beauty. The nail polish stands were like a work of art, all the colours lined up beautifully, and the same with the Eldora Lash Stand. I was overwhelmed by the amount of companies there, and even though i was there both days i still don't think i saw everything. There were a few spray tan companies, offering spray tans there and then, and girls were actually stripping off to their paper pants and standing in front of the crowds having a spray tan. They must have been very brave! I've never had a spray tan in private, let alone in public! you could have pretty much any beauty treatment. There were people doing nails, eyelash extensions, massage, and even the FlaBelos machines, another thing you wouldn't catch me doing in public! Haha.

I didn't end up buying a lot of stuff, I way to indecisive and was so overwhelmed by the amount of colours and products that i only really bought a couple of things. Some make up sanitiser, only 1 nail polish! From the China Glaze Hunger Games series, though i could have easily gone mad in the OPI shop, but i restrained. I also bought a couple of skincare bits to try out.
Tickets for the event are free to any beauty industry professionals or Beauty students, and its well worth the trip up to London! I thoroughly enjoyed myself and cant wait till next years event!
I'm hoping to attend Professional beauty early next year, and look forward to seeing how the 2 events compare.

Did you go to Olympia Beauty This year?

She Said Beauty; October

I hate to say bad things about products, but i really can't say I'm wowed by this box. The samples are so teeny tiny and the only 'full size' product is travel size which i could get in boots for a couple of squids. Nonetheless i shall show you what i got....

First up, Cellnique Advanced Bio Renewal Masque. This is a scrub mask that contains fruit enzymes and acid. Its the teeny tiny round pot in the photo, it has a 3g sample in. Is 3g enough to cover my entire face?  Who knows, i think not we will have to wait and see.
Next is B.Liv, off with those heads. This actually sounds like an interesting product. The 'light cooling gel' promises to easily remove stubborn black heads and whiteheads. you just apply it to your face and leave it. I thought there might be some washing off process but now. I'm interested to see how this works. Again a tiny 3ml sample.
Amy Childs Fragrance, I *think* Amy Childs is from TOWIE? I don't really watch it,but i think she's in it. I didnt even realise she had brought a fragrance out. I'm not gonna lie, it smells quite nice. Its definitely very girly, I'm sure I've smelt a similar smell, but i cant think what it is. The full size product is very reasonably priced for a perfume, £14.99 for the 30ml and £19.99 for 50ml. I probably won't be buying it, but at that price I'm sure it'd be a great Christmas present for the TOWIE fan in your life.
The sample sachets are Biao Beauty Rejuvenating night Créme containing triple action properties, to smooth, moisturise and protect against premature ageing. 2 x 2g sachets. the full size is 118ml and retails for $24.50
The first 'full size' product is the travel size of Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula, dont get me wrong i really like this product, but not in a beauty box thanks. Sorry SSB.
Lastly  My Vitamins Total Green Tea Extract. Green Tea in a tablet. Hmmm. Green Tea is a know powerful antioxidant. I've not taken any yet, I'm a little wary of taking things like this. I don't really understand whats its meant to do either?

That's October She Said Beauty, I'm pretty disappointed if I'm honest. Sorry SSB. I hate being negative, but i don't want to lie and say i was chuffed with this box.
What do you think of it?

Where have I been?

You know what i just don't have an answer for this, I don't actually know what I've been doing with my life. The last, however long its been has just seemed to merge in to one loooooong day/week.
I haven't forgotten about you all, literally every day I'm like, i need to write a blog post on this etc. but i just seem to run out of time. Between working, the gym, and some other exciting things i have to tell you about. I just haven't had a spare moment.
So in this post I'd like to announce the winner of my giveaway, that finished nearly a month ago!! (sorry)
Drum roll please........

AND THE WINNER IS......

Well done Sammy, I'll drop you an email or a tweet to let you know, and I'll try and get your prize out to you by the end of the week.

Today I've purposely made no plans, so i can write a ton of posts that I've been meaning to write for so long, and get back into the swing of things, I've missed blogging.

Also, are any of you attending the #bbloggers Xmas event? I'm really tempted to go, but feel my blogging's been so nonexistent recently that i shouldn't really go haha.
But let me know if you are, I'd be interested to see who is going.

I hope you've all been well, while I've been gone.
and hopefully normal service shall be resuming.

Glossy Box; September

September Glossy Box, came in a limited edition box to celebrate London fashion week. The box has been designed by London based up-and-coming illustrator Maggi Li.

Isn't it gorgeous! I can't wait for my room to be finished so i can keep this on my dressing table. It is definitely my favourite Glossy Box so far. But, on to the contents...

First Up, Rodial, Glamoxy Snake Serum and 5 Minute Facial. In the little envelope i got 2 sachets of each product, the full size version actually comes in sachets as well, you get 10x1ml sachets the snake serum retails at £29 and the 5 minute facial retails at £10.95. Its a revolutionary product that apparently has instantly visible results, I've not used it so cant say whether this is right or not, the product supposedly reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The 5 minute facial is a triple action resurfacing gommage clay mask. It all sounds very technical, i look forward to trying them both.

Maghrabian Hair Oil, i don't know if I've said this before but, I LOVE HAIR OIL. I'm currently using L'Oreal Mythic Oil, so haven't actually tried this one out yet. It contains Argan Oil and helps to Nourish hydrate and condition your hair, making it super soft and shiny. I honestly can't praise hair oil enough, i love love love the stuff and cannot wait to try this one.

Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream, all i can say is BORED OF BALANCE ME. P.s This is actually a pretty good eye cream.

Vichy Idealia Day Care Cream, this is a smoothing and illuminating day cream. The cream is a gorgeous pink colour and has a really nice subtle scent. Its for Normal - Combination skin, and has a really nice semi-thick texture. A little bit really goes a long way, and even though its illuminating it isn't glittery! definitely a bonus. The sample is 15ml, and comes in a cute little glass jar. Full size is 50ml and retails for £25

And last but by no means least. LADY GAGA FAME, this couldn't be one of the most anticipated celebrity fragrances. Its the first beauty product from Lady Gaga, the liquid is black in the bottle but turns clear when sprayed, crazy eh? I think Tierry Muglar has done a similar think but with purple? I'm not sure. I'm really surprised at how nice the fragrance actually is. Not that i was expecting it to be horrible, but i was expecting it to be quite deep and musky and not really to my taste, But its actualyl quite floral. 'Tears of Belladonna, Crushed heart of Tiger Orchidea, with a black veil of incense. Pulverized Apricot and the combinative essences of Saffron and Honey Drops'
Sounds pretty dark and ominous, the the perfume is gorgeous floral and fruity. Really very very nice!

So that's September Glossy Box, again there was a massive variation on boxes and prices. But oh well, these things happen. I quite like my box?
what did you think of Septembers Glossy Box?

Betrousse Summer Break

Betrousse is a fairly new beauty box on the scene. Its unlike any of the others, this is a no subscription service, you also get to see whats in the boxes before you decide whether or not to purchase it or not. The other great thing about Betrousse is that they do a variety of boxes, so you can choose the box that most suits your wants or needs. Betrousse also contain all full size products, they generally contain 5 products, though some contain more. The usual price for the boxes is £19 but there is currently one box retailing for £17.
I was lucky enough to win a Betrousse Summer Break box, from the lovely Shona over at FreshBeautyxox. So I just thought I'd show you whats in the box and let you know what i think about it all.

First up, Orhis Nourishing Face Cream 50ml RRP £28.00 This face cream repairs, nourishes and protects the skin. Orhis is a French product and it contains Cottonseed, which is ideal for dry and damaged skin as its very soothing and has regenerating properties. and also Argan Oil, which is deeply nourishing. The creams ingredients have a 99.1% natural origin. The fragrance of the product is very light and subtle, a bit floral but very natural smelling. The consistency of the cream is fairly thick, but it absorbs nicely. The company also do a range of moisturisers for different skin types available at www.orhis.com
The second product is another moisturiser, Lilas Blanc, Secret Éclat Jeunesse 50ml RRP £36.50. This is an anti-wrinkle day cream, it contains New Zealand Fern extract along with rose and rosewood essential oils. Also Shea Butter and Jojoba oils which are particularly good for mature skin. The creams is recommended to be used as a day cream. Again the cream has a very natural smell, the texture isn't as thick as i was expecting for anti-ageing cream. Though it is quite thick, it absorbs well and you can really smell the rose in it once its rubbed in. I probably won't use this product myself, but perhaps pass it on to my mum, who might appreciate it a bit more.
Next up there is a Cinq Mondes, Rose Petal Rain Mist, 200ml RRP £28 Its called a softening body beauty lotion on the front of the bottle. The instructions say to spray as a refreshing and moisturising body mist. The spray smells gorgeous, really lovely and floral like actual roses. The only downside is that its slightly sticky, it eventually left my skin quite soft, but the initial stickiness was a bit off putting.
Cosmetoo Nails, Nail Art Kit Express, this contains one packet of pink bow nail stickers, 1 bag of rhinestones and 1 stick of boxwood (or what i call an orange stick) I've not used these at all, so can't really comment on these it looks like a good set though and the RRP is £3.90
There was a little extra product in this box, which is Coslys shower gel for sensitive skin made with organic fig, its just a small 12ml sachet so I'll probably throw it in my gym bag as it'll only do 1 wash.
The final full size product is ANOTHER moisturiser, this one is from Benta berry, G-1 Moisturising Face Cream 30ml RRP £12 this is another product but that i probably wont be using myself after reading the back this cream is for an oily skin type. It is a matifying face cream, containing ingredients to regulate excess sebum secretion, It also works to purify the skin and helps reduce redness and imperfections.

So that's the Betrousse Summer Break box, an alright box i think, ALOT of moisturisers, but some really nice stuff in there and all from brands I've not heard of so its a great discovery box.
I can't wait to try all the stuff out properly.
And thank you to Shona for holding the giveaway, make sure you go over and check out her blog.

Lots of Love

She Said Beauty; September

I'm slowly catching up on my missed posts, i have quite a back log of them.
But today, She Said Beauty.
The September box;

PopChips; These are essentially crisps, though they aren't fried or baked. They're popped. They contain less fat and calories than regular fried crisps. They tasted really good, the only downside in the pack you only got literally 5/6 crisps. I think in an actual packet you get a lot more. But for the size of the bag i was expecting at least a couple more. But they were lovely. They also come in Original and Barbecue flavour. I'd really like to try some other flavours.

Ginvera Green Tea Marvel Gel; This is a very gentle exfoliator, it works by dissolving the dry skin rather than sloughing it away with rough particles. This gel literally melts you dead skin away, its a little bit disgusting, but amazing. You apply it to a dry face, and massage it in. As you massage you can actually see your dead/dry skin peeling away. I'm not to keen on the smell, but it leaves my skin feeling so incredibly soft.

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil; This cleanser comes from Japan, It thoroughly dissolved dirt, oil and cosmetics. Oily cleansers are especially good on waterproof mascara. The other great thing about this cleanser is that it completely rinses away with water. I've not used this cleanser yet, but from what I've read I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Amie Spring Clean Cooling Clay Mask; Is a refreshing deep cleansing mask, that draws out dirt and impurities. It also helps soak up excess oil and prevents blemishes. The mask contains refreshing lime and peppermint,as well as french white clay and natural anti-bacterial Zinc Oxide which helps reduce and clear spots.
You all know i love my face masks, and although this isn't particularly suited to my skin, I'm definitely going to try it out, as i think the lime and peppermint sound amazing.

Collection Primed & Ready Smoothing Makeup Primer; This is a silky smooth make up primer. It helps smooth the appearance of open pores and also any fine lines. The tube is teeny tiny 18ml, if you're just starting out with primers or even make up, it would probably be a good starting product. Collection products are usually reasonably priced and the tube is small enough to not have to commit to much but big enough to have a good  ol' test of the product.

Collection Fix Me Up Make Up Fixer; I would compare this to MAC fix +, but i won't. Though the concepts are the same, its a spray to fix your make up, the collection spray smells horrible. MAC fix+ is a delight to use, Collection Fix Me Up. No thanks. Yucky. If you want to try it out, its a small enough bottle, and i suppose it does its job of keeping your make up intact. But its whether or not you can deal with the funny smell?

September She Said Beauty, some nice 'different' products. I liked the appearance of some crisps, nice little change.
What did you think of this months box?

100 Followers & 100th Post Giveaway

So I've reached (and passed) 100 followers! And this post coincidentally is my 100th post!
Pretty cool, huh?
Well anyway, i thought I'd have a little giveaway, to say thank you to all my lovely readers and followers.
I cant quite believe I've reached 100 followers especially as I've been the worst blogger over the summer.
I'm hoping now, everything's settled down a bit, I'll be able to start getting back into the swing of thing properly (I've said that a million times but i actually mean it this time! haha)

So to celebrate this little milestone, i have some goodies for you, from one of my favourite shops. You can probably guess, which one. I've chosen some of my personal favourite products, and also one new product, well new to me, not new to the shop.
Want a peek?

Lush!! Did you guess correctly?
In the goody bag, will be;
- Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter, and
- Sugar Scrub, Body Scrub

I've linked Sunny Side & Dragons egg, as I've already done little reviews on them. Lemony flutter I've been using for a while, not as a cuticle cream, but as an intensive foot cream. After i have my cast off (from breaking my leg) I had the most hideously dry feet, and this worked an actual treat! I couldn't recommend this enough, especially if you've had a cast on.
The sugar scrub, is something I'm yet to try, i did buy one for myself while purchasing this lot. The lovely girl in the shop helped me pick this one out, and it sounds like a really great product. She suggested breaking it up into four pieces, to maximise the usage. But she said you can use it all in one go if you want a really hardcore scrub.

Entering will be simple, all you'll need to do is fill in the rafflecopter form below. But as usual there are just a couple of teeny rules.
Play Fairly.
Have Fun.
Open To UK Only. (Sorry)
Once a winner is chosen they will be notified, if no reply after 4 days, a new winner will be chosen.
Once the prize is posted it is no longer my responsibility, it will be in the care of Royal Mail. I will ensure all items have sufficient packaging to reach you in an acceptable condition.
You need to be a follower of my blog.

The Giveaway will be open for 3 Weeks and will end on,  October 17th 2012.

Again thank you, to all my readers and followers.
And Good Luck Everyone.

Lots of Love

All the work and effort that goes into creating those nail effects is outstanding, I'm looking forward to seeing the technicians at work, and all the different techniques being used. I'm no nail technician myself, but its fascinating isn't it? Who'd of thought you could create such works of art on your nails!

Good Luck to anyone competing in this years competition i cant wait to see all the great manicures and nail art.

Are you going to be attending Olympia Beauty this year?
or are you competing in the Nailyimpics?

Lots of Love
