Glossy Box; May 2012

This months GlossyBox was a special 'Birthday' Edition as GlossyBox has now been around for 1 whole year! So, HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY GLOSSYBOX! I've not been a subscriber since the very beginning unfortunately, when i found out about glossybox there was a waiting list!! and i couldn't get my first box until August or September. I've been subscribed since one of those months.
Well anyway, everyone had VERY high hopes for this months box, and to be honest, once everyone starts getting their hopes up, your bound to be disappointed, no? I feel sorry for glossybox, every month they seem to get complaint after complaint. If people don't like what they're getting, or they don't like the fact the box is a mystery every month, then don't pay your £12.95 to keep a subscription you're just going to complain about every month. Save you're money and buy something you KNOW you'll like.
The whole point of the boxes is to introduce new brands, brands you might necessarily not be able to afford, brands you wouldn't normally purchase. You aren't meant to like every single thing you get given, its a massive bonus if you do, but the whole point is to TRY stuff. I know a lot of the issues people have are with the values of the boxes and the fact there is such a variety of products. Which i totally understand, this month i would have liked HD Brows as much as the next person, but at the end of the day its just luck of the draw. So its just something people just have to get over. I'm sure the people at GlossyBox work hard to get the samples they get, and if they could please everyone, I'm sure they would also do that. So when you get next months box, how about cutting them some slack, and perhaps head over to Beauty Box Swaps (linked at the side) where you can exchange the products you perhaps don't like for something you love. Its not the end of the world remember, and worse things happen at sea ;)

Huge apology for that rant. I didn't actually mean that to happen, but my hands just wouldn't stop typing. I shall just move on to what i received in my box this month.

I love the tissue paper in this months box, its so cute and the ribbon has Anniversary box printed along it. Little touches like that make it feel a little more special. Though i think they should start using that tissue paper every month!

The Contents;

- Noble Isle Summer Rising Bath & Shower Gel
- Lolita Lempicka L'Eau en Blane & Si Lolita
- Weleda Face Cream/Body Milk
- Uniqone All In One Hair Treatment
- Let's Go Lashes
- Glossy Box Birthday Balloon
- Glossy Box Compact Mirror

Noble Isle, Summer Rising Bath & Shower Gel
"An immaculate fragrance evoking the beginnings of summer. Noble Isle is a new British bath & body brand inspired by natural and cultural riches of the British Isles."
Now i don't know if everyone got the same flavour, or whether Glossy Box did this on purpose, but i got the scent 'Cornish Hedgerows' I don't know if you all know this, but i actually live in Cornwall! I'd be interested if there was other scents floating around, or if that was the only one? This scent, has a really familiar smell to it, but i cant put my finger on what it is, i want to say its a perfume I've smelt before, but i just cant be sure, its one of those smells. But i really love it. I got a 75ml Sample full size is 250ml and retails for £20.00 and is available here

Lolilata Lempicka, L'Eau en Blan & Si Lolita
"Discover Lolita Lempicka's feminine world where Parisian chic meets fantasy fairy tale to create the perfect fragrance"
I cant describe fragrance at all, so I'm just going to tell you, that i liked both of them, but i doubt i will purchase either.

Weleda, Face Cream/Body Milk
"Weleda products only contain natural ingredients grown biodynamically to help restore health and maintain wellbeing."
I don't actually know what my product really is, as the whole packaging and everything is in every language apart from English, from my very little language knowledge i think I've worked out that its a wild rose night cream? I've not opened it yet so I'm afraid i cant tell you much about it, and i cant read the box so i don't really know anything about it. So yeah, sorry about that.

Uniqone, All In One Hair Treatment
"The first leave-on mask on the market that offers the 10 main benefits hair needs. The ideal partner for every day use for the best stylists and their most demanding customers."
This stuff smells AMAZING, I cant describe the smell, but its like the yummiest hairdresser smell ever. Its in a spray bottle and it really wasn't what i was expecting, i assumed sprays were like watery, but this is a bit thicker and like creamy. This may be the product I've been searching for. Since having my hair cut i have to blow dry and straighten my fringe, so i need a heat protector, but i also get terrible frizz, so i need something for that, my hairs also really dry so i need something for that. That's already 3 products, but this little beauty claims to do all of them plus more! i cannot wait to try it! The only downside, is that its only available in salons and I bet there isn't one in the whole of Cornwall that sells it. That'd be just my luck.

Let's Go Lashes
"Available in 40 styles, 100% human hair, incredibly easy to apply and re-usable"
Lashes are lashes. I hardly wear them. But the amount i now have i think I'm gonna start wearing them on a daily basis haha. These ones look fairly natural so might get away with it haha.

So that's my Glossy Box.
Again apologies for the rant at the beginning, I hope you all enjoyed your birthday Glossy Box

What did you get in your box?

Lots of Love

Hair Cut.

Sunday night (very late) i decided it was time for a change, a new me. So I made the drastic decision to have a hair cut, and not just my regular trim with no kind of style, an actual real hair cut! You may or may not know, i have THE biggest girl crush on Zooey Deschanel, So this was my inspiration for my new Do'.
I don't really have a regular salon, i neglect my hair to much. I found a salon, after asking around for some suggestions, then Monday morning, i made the phone call and managed to get an appointment for that day! At this point i was SO nervous, i hate getting my hair cut, hence why it never happens.
I had about 50 photos of Zooey Deschanel on my phone, just so the hairdresser knew exactly what i wanted haha.
I loved my salon experience, and i will hopefully keep them as my regular salon, from now on. I want to take better care of my hair so hopefully they will be able to help me on  my journey to a better me. Now i bet your dying to see how it turned out haha... (please excuse my face, i was trying to find a photo that best showed the length of my hair!)

Before
and apologies for my after photo, i have zero make up on!

So that's me, on my journey to become Zooey Deschanel, Now i just need to lose about 4 stone, so I can wear pretty dresses and other nice things! (You cant really tell in the second photo, but I've had about 3inches off the bottom as well!)

I had a little shopping spree after my hair cut and got all kinds of goodies! I will show you them all in a new post.
I'd love to know what you think of my new hair cut and I'm also looking for tips, of how to combat the frizz, as i prefer to let the rest of my hair dry naturally, it has a nice natural wave to it, but it gets horribly frizzy *sad face* any tips would be very welcome!

Are you having a make over for summer?

Lots of Love

Latest In Beauty; Red Carpet

The much anticipated Latest In Beauty; Red Carpet Box. The thing i and i think most people love about latest in beauty is the fact you know exactly what your are getting, so you can decide to buy it or not, there's no monthly subscription and no surprises. (not that i don't like surprises, i LOVE no knowing whats in my glossybox) This box, i feel has out done the rest, plenty of full size and high end products, lots of products I've never tried/heard of, so plenty to discover...

Jam Packed Box This Month

This box is so full of goodies, its well worth the £14 something pounds i spent on it.

First up we have Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara this is full size product and seems to be one of the ones alot of people are excited about, and I'm not surprise, with it claiming this on the box... ' Full exposure provides a 104% increase in lash volume plus lengthening fibres in one to create scene stealing lashes at every angle' I've read so much about all these mascaras that have lengthening fibres in them. I haven't used the mascara yet, but when i do I'll do a blog post on it and let you know what i think. I have high hopes for this, the brand is a good well known brand, the brush looks great, and everyones been talking about it. I've not seen Smashbox in shops (I don't think) though I'm pretty sure it often features on QVC.

The Brush

Next is a brand I've never come across before Essential Care, ' 100% natural mineral colour, vitamin-rich organic plant extracts and Shea butter to enhance the natural beauty of your eyes. A pure synergy of nature and nurture.' This came in the form of a black eyeliner pencil, which is always a welcome addition to any makeup bag. This is one of THE softest eyeliners i think I've ever come across, its so smooth and silky, just melts onto the skin. Its really pigmented and easy to blend for those that prefer a smokier line. Essential care have a range of products available here, the eyeliner retails for £12.50

Eyeliner Swatch

Young Blood, i want to say I've heard of this product, but i don't know if its one of those things, where i think i know it but i actually don't. But anyway, in the box we got the Mineral Primer (5ml sample) The product feels really silky and velvety, but (and did anyone else notice this?) it smells a teeenie bit funny when you first apply it? I dunno it might just be me, I'm abit funny with smells. It reminds me alot of one of the GOSH primers. I do have a bit of a thing for primers, so I'm looking forward to using this on a night out. Young Blood mineral primer is available here for £30.00/30ml

Smooch, is a brand i definitely haven't heard of,  but i love their Vintage-esque packaging,  the pink and the lace print gives it an almost burlesque touch. The lipstick is nicely pigmented and has a lovely glossy finish, though i'm not much a of lipstick wearer, it is always handy to have a red lipstick (i am a lover of fancy dress) I've had a look through their other products and they all look really good, and reasonably priced! they have some gorgeous nail polish colours! Go have a look... here.  Lipsticks cost £7.50 and I'm assuming we received a full size, as its a good sized lipstick.

Smooch; Rocking Red
Sorry about that bad picture

Sorry about the bad quality the face mask was a bitch to photography its too shiny! I'll start with that now I've mentioned it, this is probably the product I'm most intrigued about trying. Dr Bragi is again a brand I've never heard of and what we have is a Marine Enzyme Intensive Treatment Mask. 'Professional strength marine enzyme mask, designed to rapidly target redness, dehydration, loss of firmness and signs of premature aging' Now I'm hoping at 21 i don't have signs of premature ageing, but redness and dehydration is something my skin has always suffered with. I'm yet to read any reviews on this product but I'm definitely excited to try it out. The mask and other products are available here. you can purchase the mask individually for £10 or a pack of 3 for £25.

Since I've been getting beauty boxes, I've really been getting into hand creams, and now apply them most days, often more than once! QMS Medi Cosmetics another brand i haven't heard of (I'm not very good at this brand malarkey haha) I like the simple packaging of this product though it does look slightly medicinal. It has a really nice soapy smell to it, and sinks in beautifully leaving not greasy residue, i do love hand creams that leave no residue. It also leaves my hands really moisturised, always a bonus. as much as i love this product so far, i don't think i shall be purchasing it anytime soon, at £20.00 for 75ml i think it is a bit pricey for a hand cream. The hand cream and other skincare products are available here.

Richard Ward Energiser Styling spray, this IS a brand I've heard of! Though I've never tried any of his products, again since beauty boxes hair products is another thing I've really been getting into, I love trying to new things, finding things that work and things that don't. I'm yet to try this, as I'm currently trying our my Paul Mitchell (from GlossyBox) 'My dual-action, multi-tasking spray contains heat & UV protection, Humidity Defence technology and AQUARICH®, a unique advanced moisture compound to help counteract frizz and damage and increase shine. With an All in One Vitamin Complex and energising Lime Oil hair feels strengthened with bounce, leaving you with frizz-free, no-residue, glide-through volumous hair.' Things that tackle frizz are what I'm looking for, and anything that makes my hair shinier and healthier looking! Yes Please! Available here for £19.00/150ml.

Last But not Least.... Mont-Bleau Crystal Nail File with crystallised Swarovski elements. Crystal nail files are everywhere these days, My mum is a big big fan of them, I'm yet to try one. Filing nails make me cringe a little bit and i don't know if i like the texture of this enough to try it, it seems like one of those 'nails down a chalk board' things' So i may just pass this on to my mum who i know will muchly appreciate it!.

So i hope you've enjoyed My LIB Red Carpet review, i hope you've enjoyed it.

Did you get the Red Carpet box? What were your thoughts on the products?

Lots of Love
